7 Questions to Ask Before Hiring a TikTok Shop Reimbursement Service

The TikTok Shop reimbursement category is young — the full vendor landscape fits in one short post — and young categories attract two kinds of vendors: specialists building the thing, and generalists bolting it on. The seven questions below separate them in one sales call.

We're Refund Hawk, and yes, we'd like to be the answer. So here's the standard we hold ourselves to: every question below should be asked of us too, and we've included the answer you should listen for from anyone — not the answer that favors us.

1. Is TikTok Shop a core competency or an add-on?

Ask how many TikTok Shop accounts they actively audit and what their TikTok-specific recovery numbers look like. "We also do TikTok" is a fundamentally different answer than a book of TikTok results with dollar figures attached.

Listen for: specifics. Account counts, recovery totals, recency. An Amazon provider with a TikTok landing page and no TikTok numbers is selling you a roadmap, not a service.

2. What exactly do you audit?

There's a hierarchy of difficulty in TikTok Shop recovery. The easy layer: discrepancies the platform practically flags for you. The hard layer: returns that never re-entered sellable inventory, refunds whose root cause was a shipping failure, receiving shortfalls against inbound shipments, and statement deduction lines that don't survive scrutiny. The leak lives in the hard layer.

Listen for: named claim categories, not "we audit everything." A provider who can't list the categories hasn't done the work.

3. How do you file claims?

This is the account-safety question. Claims should go through Seller Center, within TikTok's terms of service, with documentation TikTok itself asks for. Anything that smells like policy circumvention — bulk-automated disputes outside the system, "tricks," gray-area escalation — puts your account at risk, not the provider's.

Listen for: a willingness to confirm methods in writing. Hesitation here is disqualifying.

4. What's the fee, and on what?

The standard model is a success fee: a percentage of funds actually recovered. For context, Amazon-side fees run roughly 10–25% depending on the provider. The traps aren't the percentage — they're the base. Watch for fees charged on "identified" (not recovered) amounts, monthly minimums, setup fees, and lock-in contracts.

Listen for: "percentage of recovered funds, verifiable in your settled statements, no recovery means no fee." Anything more complicated deserves a second read.

5. Who owns the claim history?

Everything filed on your behalf should be visible in your own Seller Center: what was submitted, approved, denied, and paid. If you part ways with the provider, the record stays with you. Providers who route claims through opaque tooling you can't inspect are asking for trust they haven't earned.

Listen for: "you can verify every claim in your own account." Full stop.

6. What happens to expiring claims during onboarding?

FBT claims expire 60 days from order creation; shipping-related coverage runs 90 days from delivery. That means when you sign, some of your money is days from disappearing. A provider who understands the platform prioritizes the oldest claims on day one — not after a two-week onboarding sequence.

Listen for: a described first-week process that starts with the expiration calendar. "We'll get you set up and then begin auditing" is the wrong order of operations.

7. Can they show real TikTok Shop recoveries?

Specific, dollar-figure results on TikTok Shop — not Amazon results with "and now TikTok too" appended. Case studies should show real numbers verifiable in settled statements. (Ours: $30,800 for one brand in a month; $13,900 for a supplement brand in February.)

Listen for: numbers with context — account size, timeframe, claim categories. Vague "we've recovered millions" claims with no TikTok specifics are Amazon numbers wearing a costume.

The meta-question

If a provider gets defensive about any of these, that's your answer. Good operators in this space like these questions because they filter out the vendors making the category look bad.

And the cheapest way to evaluate anyone — including us — is to make them show you the money first. Our audit is free, takes 24 hours, and produces a dollar figure you can take anywhere.

FAQ

How much does a TikTok Shop reimbursement service cost? The standard is a success fee — a percentage of actually-recovered funds. No recovery, no fee. Confirm the fee base is recovered, not identified, amounts.

Is it safe to give a service access to my Seller Center? Yes, with the right provider: claims filed through Seller Center within TikTok's terms of service are the system working as designed. Get filing methods confirmed in writing and retain visibility into everything filed.

How fast should a service start filing claims? Within the first week, starting with the oldest claims — the 60-day FBT window means onboarding delay is permanent forfeiture of your oldest money.

What if I'm already using an Amazon reimbursement service? As of mid-2026, the major Amazon providers don't publicly offer TikTok Shop recovery — so your Amazon coverage almost certainly doesn't extend to TikTok. Ask them directly, then ask whoever covers TikTok these same seven questions.
